Jerry Dixon’s Automotive & Klassic Kar Center has been a trusted part of the Oak Hill community since its founding in 1974 at the iconic “Y,” where Highways 290W and 71W split just southwest of Austin, Texas. In those early days, Oak Hill had a small-town charm—home to local bankers, butchers, hunting shops, and the unforgettable Big Wheel truck stop and diner, famous for its vibrant neon sign that lit up the night like something out of a classic roadside scene.

Jerry Dixon quickly earned a reputation as a dependable and honest mechanic, becoming a well-known and respected figure in the community for decades. Alongside his general repair shop, Jerry pursued his passion for classic cars, eventually opening a specialized shop on Circle Drive focused on 1955–1957 Chevrolet Bel Airs and other vintage vehicles. Many of the cars we work on today are the same models Jerry serviced in his first shop when they were still on the road, and our expertise with these vehicles has been built and refined over decades.

The business has operated continuously since 1974. After Jerry’s passing in August 2015, his wife Kay—who had worked beside him since the late 1970s—continued the legacy with the help of their son Kelly and grandson Aaron. In 2019, Kay retired and passed the torch to Kelly and Aaron, who carry forward Jerry’s vision and passion.

Today, Jerry Dixon’s Automotive & Klassic Kar Center is a full-service repair and restoration facility, specializing in classic cars and trucks from 1901 through 1995. With a skilled team of mechanics, engine and transmission builders, custom fabricators, electricians, and interior specialists, the shop remains a trusted resource for enthusiasts at any stage of their vehicle’s journey. Rooted in tradition and driven by passion, the business continues to preserve the stories of the past while helping create new ones for generations to come.
